Kerala Munroe Island

Journey to the Land of Coconut Trees and Backwaters – Kerala

Munroe Island: This island was named after Colonel John Munroe, the British Resident of erstwhile Travancore State, also known as Mundrothuruthu. It is an inland island located at the confluence of Ashtamudi Lake and the Kallada River, which is almost 25 km away from Kollam city. This place is actually composed of 8 islands, separated by small water channels and lakes. To witness the beauty of this mystical island, one can hire a canoe boat, which can take you through mangrove forests via narrow canals and waterways and coconut farms on the lakeshore.

Munroe Island is the most unexplored destination and the hidden pearl in the backwaters. Our Journey to this beautiful island started from Kollam City, which is just 17 km away from the Varkala township. The best way to travel to Kollam city is by train which will take only 20 mins to reach the Kollam railway station. After reaching Kollam, you can book an Autorikshaw (Tuk-Tuk) from the authorized taxi stand in the railway station’s main gate, to and fro the journey to Munroe will cost you somewhere around 800-1000 INR.

Thanks You 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
