Kerala ( Athirapally Fall )

Journey to the Land of Coconut Trees And Backwaters – Kerala (Part 2)

Athirapally Fall: Situated in the Thrissur district of Kerala, this is the largest waterfall in the state of Kerala. The fall is famous as a site location for many Bollywood and Malayalam movies like Bahubali, Guru, Dil Se, Madras Cafe. Located deep inside the jungle on the Chalukudy river, Athirapally originates from the upper reaches of the Western Ghats, it is home to some of the most vulnerable and endangered wild species including the Royal Bengal Tigers, Asiatic elephant, sambar, lion-tailed macaque leopard, and bison. This waterfall is a favorite destination for many, and it continues to attract many tourists year-round; however, the ideal time to visit Athirapally fall is during the monsoon season.

How to Reach: The railway station nearest to Athirappilly Falls is 30 kilometers to the west in Chalakudi Railway Station, and the nearest airport is Kochi International Airport, about 55 kilometers southwest of the waterfall and 58 kilometers south of the City of Thrissur. There is no direct connectivity to Athirapally Fall from Kochi one has to change buses to reach the fall however I would recommend you to book an Ola/Uber Outstation Cab Services which will cost you around 1900 INR (to & fro), its far more convenient than changing buses in this hot, humid weather of Kerala.
